Earlier in the year when COVID-19 first impacted the UK, Heaton Green along with over 70,000 volunteers answered the call and combined to deliver over 1.2 million items of PPE to front line services.
NHS nurse Ashleigh Lindsell started “For The Love of Scrubs” back in March at first by making scrubs for colleagues at the Pilgrim Hospital in Boston due to a “dire need” of medical uniforms which were both ill-fitting and uncomfortable. After starting to make her own scrubs Ashleigh was encouraged to drive a social media campaign for other volunteers and from there the call gained national outreach and ultimately helped to provide safety for thousands of front-line workers.
We would like to thank those employees at Heaton Green who stepped away from their usual day to day duties and out of their comfort zones to help in the effort to help the NHS Mid Yorkshire Trust.
We would also thank Ashleigh for being the inspiration in such a difficult time and would like to congratulate her on what is a wonderful achievement of been appointed an OBE.
