Liverpool Bulk Terminal at Bootle Docks, Merseyside, is owned by E-on and has been newly converted to handle biomass fuel in place of coal. The bulk terminal has been designed to handle 1,200 tonnes per hour of wood pellets using a vessel unloading system that is transferred through a series of conveyors to a 60,000 tonnes storage facility. The wood pellets are then transferred to the ports existing rail loading facility and transported by rail to Ironbridge Power Station to be used as a renewable fuel source.
Heaton Green Dust Control have worked in conjunction with AJS Contracts to provide the dust extraction systems for all the mechanical handling equipment transporting the wood pellets from the vessel intake and then to the rail loading bunker facility.
